Writing

Writing

Our Writing curriculum aims to develop pupils’ understanding of and confidence in key writing skills, enabling them to write independently for a variety of audiences and purposes across different subjects. Through analysis and discussion of high-quality texts, children will learn how to ‘read as writers’ and ‘write as readers’. Using their Reflector Seagrave Step, children will strive to improve their writing throughout the writing process. Most importantly, we aim to promote a love of writing by using creative, engaging ‘hooks’ and purposeful contexts

Spelling

At Seagrave Village Primary School children follow the Read Write Inc. Spelling scheme – following on from using the Read Write Inc. Phonics programme in EYFS and Year 1.

Read Write Inc. Spelling is a 15-minutes-a-day programme for Years 2 to 6.

It teaches spelling cumulatively and systematically with deliberate, focused practice, building on the teaching strategies and spelling activities from Read Write Inc. Phonics.

Below you will find the progression of spelling work for y2-y6 and a guide to accessing the Easy Practice Zone for home spelling practice online.
